Obituary for Sammie Norris Jr.

Sammie Norris Jr.
Sammie Ray Norris, Jr., 52 of Muncie, died unexpectedly, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 14, 1965 in Muncie and is the son of Suzanne Doris (Clevenger) Norris and the late Sammie Ray Norris, Sr.
Sammie was a graduate of Muncie Central High School Class of 1983. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during Desert Storm. He worked for over 30 years in restaurant management, where he most recently was the general manager of Taco Bell on Morrison Road. Sammie was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He was a collector of sport memorabilia. Sammie was a recipient of a kidney transplant in 2014. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren.
Sammie is survived by his mother Suzanne Doris (Clevenger) Norris of Fort Wayne; a son Ethan Michael Norris (Carol) of Hartford City; two granddaughters Alana and Nola Norris of Hartford City; two grandsons Ayden and Rashad Homes of Marion; his sister Sonda Kinnaird (Beau) of Berea, OH; a nephew Braeden Kinnaird of Berea, OH; his fiancée Cindy Carpenter of Muncie; several cousins also survive. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a daughter Danielle Stalling and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Memorial Service for Sammie will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Rev. John Phillips officiating. Family and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps and the Delaware County Honor Guard. Memorial Contributions may be made to either Lutheran Foundation ,7910 West Jefferson, Bldg2 Suite 200, Ft.Wayne, IN 46804 or PTSD Foundation of America at P.O. Box 690748, Houston, TX 77269.
