The Memorial Tree of Life
The Memorial Tree of Life in the foyer of Garden View Funeral Home is in remembrance of those who have passed on and have used Garden View for their funeral. Every time we are of service to a new family a leaf is engraved by our vendor and attached to the tree.
In return, the oldest leaf on the tree will be replaced by a new leaf. The older leaf will be given to a living family member as a keepsake. The changing of leaves symbolizes the life cycle that all must pass through. And the birds flying from the tree represent the separation of the deceased from the lives that remain.
The Memorial Tree holds 581 leaves. The average time frame for any given leaf to remain on the tree is 4 1/2 years. A map and listing is retained of where all individual's names are kept on the tree for easy reference to a family member in need of locating their loved one's leaf.
There is no charge to the family for the leaf that is put on the tree. However, if any additional leaves are requested by the family, a charge of $25.00 is incurred. Only one leaf is added to the tree to ensure that all families are represented equally.
We believe that the Memorial Tree of Life helps family members and friends honor the memories of their loved ones.
